Claire DeVidas
SENIOR ATTORNEY
Claire DeVidas has practiced family law in Fairfield County for more than 20 years, representing clients through divorce, custody disputes, and the complex issues that often surround them. Her work frequently intersects with related matters, including criminal proceedings, foreclosure, bankruptcy, probate, domestic violence, DCF involvement, and appellate litigation. She has particular experience representing high-net-worth individuals and those with complex compensation packages.
She works closely with a trusted network of business valuation professionals, financial specialists, psychologists, and other experts to build the right team for each client’s unique circumstances.
Claire began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in New Orleans, Louisiana, prosecuting violent crimes, including domestic violence. That experience gives her clients a distinct advantage in court: sharp instincts for uncovering critical evidence, a keen eye for building compelling cases, and firsthand insight into the dynamics of abusive relationships. She is a Connecticut Certified Domestic Violence Counselor.
While always prepared to litigate, Claire finds particular satisfaction in helping clients reach negotiated resolutions through mediation and other alternative dispute resolution methods. Clients consistently point to Claire’s thoroughness, integrity, and unwavering advocacy. For her, the most rewarding part of practicing law is helping people navigate some of the most difficult periods of their lives, and hearing that she made a real difference along the way.
Claire is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Louisiana, as well as the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association and the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce. She received her B.A. and B.S. from the College of Charleston (1993) and her J.D. from Pace Law School (2000), where she received the Equal Justice Fellowship for her work with women victims of domestic violence. She also completed mediation training at Quinnipiac University School of Law’s Center on Dispute Resolution.
Outside of practice, Claire enjoys traveling with her daughter, reading history, and solving crossword puzzles.
