Laura Battey’s lifelong passion for justice has shaped her journey in becoming an attorney. She holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Political Science from Fairfield University, graduating cum laude in 2020. Pursuing her dream, Laura attended Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2023.
During her legal education, Laura focused on family law and received a certificate of completion for the Family Law Concentration. She became a valued member of both the Women’s Law Society and the Mock Trial Society, building a strong network within the legal community. She served as Vice President of the Family and Juvenile Law Society, demonstrating her leadership skills and commitment to the field.
Laura’s dedication to advocating for children’s interests in family law matters was recognized when she was awarded the prestigious Sandra and Martin Lax Endowed Scholarship for the 2022-2023 school year. She gained practical experience through various initiatives, including her work at the Mediation Clinic, mediating for individuals in high-conflict family situations.

This hands-on experience further developed her skills in alternative dispute resolution. As a Sappern Fellow, she provided crucial support to individuals in need by assisting them in filling out Temporary Restraining Order applications at the New Haven courthouse. Laura is thrilled to make a meaningful impact and launch her legal career at Schoonmaker George.
